- Remove the wheel: Detach the affected wheel from your bicycle frame.
- Unseat the tyre: Insert tyre levers under the tyre edge (bead) and slide them along to lift one side of the tyre off the rim.
- Extract the tube: Pull the inner tube out, leaving the valve stem for last.
- Locate the puncture: Pump air into the tube and listen for a hiss, or submerge it in water to look for bubbles.
- Prep the surface: Use the metal rasp or sandpaper to scratch an area slightly larger than your patch. Wipe away any dust.
- Apply glue: Spread a thin, even layer of rubber solution over the sanded area. Wait 1 to 2 minutes until the glue looks dull and tacky, not wet.
- Press the patch: Peel the backing off the patch, place it firmly over the hole, and press hard from the center outwards for 30 seconds.
- Check the tyre casing: Run your fingers carefully along the inside of your tyre to find and remove the thorn, glass, or wire that caused the flat.
- Reassemble: Put the tube back in, pop the tyre bead back onto the rim, and inflate. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
